What is surreal art

Surrealism began in the 1920s as an attempt to paint the logic of dreams:
ordinary things in impossible combinations. The contemporary version in this
collection keeps the dream logic and drops the art history lecture. Garden
Delights is a modern take on the overflowing garden, Rhinocorn and Flovemingo
rebuild animals out of flowers, Ice Bearg says something about climate
without a single word, and Extraterrestrial Espionage is pure play.
Maximalism is the other half of the collection: more colour, more detail,
more everything, for people who find minimalism a bit quiet.

Styling surreal wall art
Surreal art is a conversation piece, so hang it where people sit and talk:
above the sofa, in the dining room, in the hallway where guests pause. One
large print carries a wall on its own. For a maximalist gallery wall, mix two
or three surreal pieces with simpler prints so the eye has somewhere to rest,
and keep the frames consistent so the chaos looks intentional. Dreamy pieces
with soft palettes also work in bedrooms. If you want the colour turned up
further, the psychedelic and trippy collection is the next step, and the
space wall art collection has the cosmic end of surreal.

Fine art prints and canvas
Every motif is a fine art print on heavy matte paper, and most are also
available framed or as canvas. Detail-heavy surreal art rewards paper, where
every small strange thing in the picture stays sharp. Sizes run from small
gallery-wall prints to large statement formats.

Art for Causes
Andy okay has sold more than 202,000 artworks for charity. The animal
pieces in this collection sit naturally with partners like WWF and Rainforest
Trust, and the partner for each print is shown on its product page. More
animals, less surrealism: see the animal wall art collection.
Questions about surreal wall art

What is surreal art?
Art that combines realistic elements in ways that could not exist,
following the logic of dreams rather than the real world. It started as the
Surrealist movement in the 1920s and continues in contemporary illustration
like the prints here.

What is maximalist wall art?
The opposite of minimalism: rich colour, dense detail and bold pattern.
Surreal art is often maximalist, which is why the two share a collection.

Where should I hang surreal art?
Where people gather and talk. Above the sofa, in the dining room or in a
hallway. One large piece on a plain wall is usually enough.

Are these original paintings or prints?

They are fine art prints of original works by independent artists,
available on paper, framed or as canvas. Limited releases are marked on the
product page.
